So How'd the Surgery Go
09 Jan 2009
Feeling worse, but soon to be feeling better.

Lisa was a bit nervous about the surgery. I wasn't so much because I'd been through it before, and such procedures as inguinal hernia repair and cholecystectomy are so routine as to be almost without risk, and done laparoscopically so there is very little cutting. Heck, there's probably more risk from the anesthesia than from the surgery these days.

We were in at promptly 5:45 in the morning, but you know hospitals. The paperwork takes longer than the procedures. Still, she was the first one under the knife that day, and the first one out of surgery. It took all of 15 minutes and the doctor called to say that all was well.

Recovery took a bit longer than expected. People respond differently to anesthesia, you know, but her blood pressure finally got up to where it was supposed to be and they sent her home.

She's still in a bit of pain, but able to get around and do things. She got new flowers and pajamas out of the deal, but the big benefit is that she can eat what she wants now and not worry about getting sick. Sooooooo glad that crap is over. Unfortunately, my plans to take her to Red Lobster this weekend in celebration are being stymied by the weather.
